Legal Futures Conference – where were all the lawyers?
How come people who are tangential to the legal sector rather than the lawyers themselves are paying more attention to what’s going on in the legal sector?
I was at the Legal Futures conference in London on Monday and I reckon that only around 40% of the 200 people in the room were actually from some kind of legal services providers. The rest were “hangers on” as I call them (and yes, I’m one of those).
With the self-appointed conference title of “The cutting edge of law” you would think that more law firms would send people. OK, so it was Monday and it was in London (which is not the centre of the univesrse some people think it is) but with a venue provided by RBS and a lot of speakers who are London based, I guess it’s the only choice of location.
Anyway, it was disappointing that more people were not there, but as an external provider it was great to see 12 of my law firm clients there. Always nice to see your clients paying attention to what’s going on around them.
