Ask not what your solicitor can do for you, but what you can do for your solicitor - The Solicitor / Client relationship in negligence claims.

Today marks the 50th anniversary of the assassination of the 35th President of the United States.  John Fitzgerald Kennedy was only 43 years old when elected to office and remains the only non-Protestant President. The common view and conclusion of the FBI and Warren Commission official investigation is that Lee Harvey Oswald was a lone assassin.  However, the United States House Select Committee on Assassinations has since concluded that the original investigations were flawed and that…See More

If it walks like a duck and talks like a duck - then it must be medical negligence?

The duck test is a form of inductive reasoning which implies that a person can identify an unknown subject by observing that subject’s characteristics.  The argument is sometimes used to counter the viewpoint that something is not what it appears to be.  In dealing with medical and clinical negligence matters, clients will often ask why it was necessary for a doctor to undertake so many different tests and enquiries to establish the true nature of any condition.  I would always explain that…See More

'Hip' hip hooray to Sir Alex Ferguson and Manchester United

Following on from Manchester United winning the 2012/13 Premier League, it has been announced that the former United boss is to undergo hip surgery during the summer.  A hip replacement is a commonly performed piece of surgery and is conducted where replacement of a damaged hip joint is needed.  The artificial replacement is also known as a prosthesis.  Thankfully, following on from his retirement, Sir Alex will now have a sufficient period to recover, which usually results in a return to work…See More

"This may be why Franklin is the only non-president (he was an emissary to France and postmaster General) to feature on US currency. His biography is a good read by the way."

Death and Taxes are Unavoidable?

Many people believe that as a signatory to the Declaration of Independence, Benjamin Franklin became President of the United States of America.  Although it was often used by Mark Twain, the phrase ‘The only two certainties in life are death and taxes’ actually originates in a 1789 letter from Benjamin Franklin to a French scientist.  One of the founding fathers of the United States was expressing his concern as to the high levels of morbidity in fledgling America. In 2013, persistently high…See More
