Richard Pettet - Owner of Defero Law
About Me
My name is Richard Pettet and I am the owner of Defero Law.
My background is in legal publishing with Chambers & Partners where I worked as an advertising manager on their range of legal guides.
I started Defero Law in 2010 as a personal blog about legal marketing trends and the impending introduction of Alternative Business Structures. In late 2010, I opened the site up to other contributors and steadily the site attracted a number of law firms and lawyers who were also starting to blog.
By early 2011, Defero Law was a full-time job and building up the member base and involving many of my legal marketing contacts on the site became the priority. Today we have over 1,600 members and hundreds of blog contributors, and managing the community takes up much of my time.

Web and Blog Design: I designed Defero Law. If you like the look of it and would like me to assist you with the design of a new website, giving an old website a new look (easier than you've probably been told by design agencies) or want to get your new blog looking just like your website, then get in touch.

Focus now, as a consultant, assisting law firms in areas such as strategic planning, IT strategy and development, risk management and regulatory compliance. Thanks for the welcome, Richard. I work quite a lot with solicitors; among other things I offer them CPD in Data Protection and advice on the dangers/safe use of social media. Given the fear that many solicitors have of social media, I thought it would be interesting and probably of value to me to participate in a network specifically aimed at the legal profession. Hopefully I can also be of value to the network.

Indeed we did.
I fear my attendances will be limited as I am 111 miles west of London and it is a bit of a trek.
I wanted to attend at least one to put avatars to faces.
It would be useful to have a chat some time.
My "night/weekend" job is Solicitors Marketing System, and my passion to get sole practitioners and law firms to fight off the new enemies and use the internet to their advantage.
If you feel there are any crossovers where we might join forces, I'd love to hear from you
