Collaboration, whether it's a merger, joint venture or selling services to other professionals is often used to increase profits, and if executed properly can also enhance the reputation of both partners.

Keith Arrowsmith, Head of Intellectual Property & Media at national law firm Ralli will take you on a journey into the world of collaboration, looking at how to get the deal right, how to secure profits and how to maintain successful business deals. He will suggest techniques to decide on the best structure for short and long term partnerships, using case studies from the creative and business sectors.

The event will take place in the Royal Northern College of Music's new high-tech Recital Room - itself a collaboration between the College and local entrepreneur Carol Nash.

Keith specialises in intellectual property and media law for commercial and charitable clients. He has previously worked in London and Sheffield, where he built a reputation in the digital, arts, entertainment, heritage and creative sectors.

He also works closely with other service industry and hi-tech clients, on a national and international basis. Keith deals with the creation, evaluation, protection and exploitation of intellectual property rights. He deals with the registration of trademarks and design rights, and advises on licensing and the transfer of ownership of those rights.

He takes a special interest in constitutional and governance issues for his clients, and his pro-active attitude is reflected in the transactional advice he provides. He works closely with other members of Ralli's litigation and corporate teams to provide a full service offering.

He is an Associate Lecturer for Sheffield Hallam University and has written a guide to theatre law for Methuen.
